Privacy policy

The short version: we do not have your data, because it never leaves your browser.

This policy explains what happens to information when you use Preflight. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

1. Information we collect directly

None. Preflight has no accounts, no registration, no login and no contact form that stores submissions. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or wallet address, and there is no database on our side holding user records.

2. Information stored on your device

Several features need to remember things between visits. All of it is written to your browser's local storage, which lives on your own computer or phone and is not transmitted to us:

• Your panel layout, which panels are open, and window sizes
• Watchlist entries and portfolio holdings you type in
• Price alerts you create
• Trade journal entries and their notes
• Free-text notes, chart pair and timeframe preferences

We cannot read any of this. Clearing your browser data deletes it permanently, and we hold no backup. Using a different browser or device shows an empty workspace, because the data was never centralised.

3. Third-party data providers

To display live market information, your browser requests data directly from external services. When it does, those services can see your IP address and standard connection details, exactly as if you had visited their own website. We do not control their practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.

4. Advertising

Preflight displays advertising to cover hosting costs. Ad networks may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure impressions and, in some cases, to show more relevant ads. This behaviour is controlled by the network, not by us. Most networks offer an opt-out, and your browser settings can block third-party cookies entirely — Preflight will continue to work normally if you do.

We do not share any information with advertisers, because we do not have any to share.

5. Analytics

If a privacy-respecting analytics tool is enabled, it records aggregate page views only — never individual behaviour, and never anything you type into a panel.

6. Children

Preflight is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

7. Your rights

Because your information stays on your device, you already hold complete control over it. You can delete everything at any time by clearing your browser's site data, or by using the reset controls inside the relevant panels. There is no request to file with us and no waiting period, since there is nothing on our side to erase.

If you are in a jurisdiction granting rights of access, correction, portability or erasure, those rights are satisfied by design here. Should you still wish to raise a concern, write to us via the contact page.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because we store nothing, there is no central database of user information that could be breached. Your device's own security is what protects your saved entries, so use a device passcode and be careful on shared computers.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted on the site itself rather than quietly edited in.
